Our story

Little Austinite was born out of love for our great Austin metroplex and for our children.  We support local businesses and hope to drum up additional interest in our cities to help keep its economy, businesses, and tourism vital.  The Austin area has a lot of gems to offer families with children.  We would like to focus on the best of metro Austin to showcase what it is that we love so much about this place for families rather than be a forum for flaming businesses.

There are plenty of resources out there to help us adults live, work, and play in the Austin area, but the wee ones? There is not as much available.  We would have to do multiple web searches to find information as we found existing websites to be cluttered, hard to navigate, or not comprehensive (enough). After years of tediously combing through local publications, web directories, and experiencing Austin with our children, we would like to share what we have learned with you.

Because each of the contributing writers has specialized skill sets, we will be incorporating educational resources such as art projects, science projects, photography tips, and recipes as well into Little Austinite.  We strive to be the most comprehensive resource available to families with children, living or visiting the Austin area.

We hope that you find our “one-stop-shop”webpage useful.  You can listen to an interview about Little Austinite with Austin’s Musing Mommies if you would like to know more about how this website began.

Typically we will post new articles Monday through Friday.
