On Friday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 4th, Pflugerville Community Church is excited to invite local families to join us on an unforgettable journey. The church grounds will be transformed into the road to Bethlehem at the time of Christ’s birth, and visitors will journey together to find the newborn child. Led by a Wiseman, the traveling audience will be taken through a tour of the Christmas story, meeting and interacting with interesting characters along the way.

The walk-through drama, told in nine scenes, contains both serious and humorous moments. Visitors will meet Zechariah, an excitable priest who is delighted to have a captive audience to talk to, after having been silent until the birth of his son, John the Baptist. They will also encounter King Herod, who assigns a skeptical servant to tour with the group as they search for Jesus. They will find help from a beggar child in a bustling marketplace. The tour will end with a reflective stop at the Bethlehem
manger.

More than 90 church members are involved in making our sixth annual Journey to Bethlehem a reality, from the construction of outdoor and indoor sets to the baking of loaves of sweet bread for visitors.  Tours will run continuously both evenings from 6 – 9pm. After participating in the journey, visitors will be offered homemade refreshments and invited to enjoy the petting zoo. This event is free of charge.

Come and walk the crowded streets, visit the bustling marketplace and talk with the vendors busy in their shops. See the shepherds watching their flocks under the winter sky. Listen to the villagers talking in hushed voices about seeing angels and the birth of a very special baby. Keep your eyes and ears open to whatever miracles may occur. But don’t play to stay overnight. The inn is full.

It isn’t a play. It isn’t a pageant. It is encountering Christ and the mystery of Christmas the way we believe it all began.
