Our venture to this little seafood shop in Cedar Park was purely on the basis of Yelp reviews. Upon some interwebs digging, I found out that the owners of Surf and Turf once ran the Sea Dragon #2 restaurant at 183 and 620, which by accounts was one of the few places to get awesome Vietnamese food until it closed. I had some high expectations of this restaurant, given my past happy relationship with Sea Dragon.
When we drove up to this restaurant, we were surprised how small it was, and halfway through dining, I recalled that years ago, hubby and I had breakfast here when the place used to be The Railyard restaurant. The restaurant couldn’t have had more than 20 tables, and the place was packed around 6:30 pm on a weeknight. There was a steady stream of diners going in and out of the place.
After placing our order, we were brought a small bowl of Cajun spiced potato chips. They were salty, but boy were they addictive in that Zapps chips sort of way. For all I know, these were Zapps chips.
The kids didn’t particularly care for the chips because the seasoning was “too spicy” for their liking. I think they meant too salty.
Our food came out pretty quickly, and as such being that we ordered mostly items of the fried-nature, they were scalding hot. The kids shared a kid’s menu item of popcorn shrimp and fries which was more than enough for our two small kids. They liked the fries but loved the popcorn shrimp. The fries did have a bit of the Cajun spice too which didn’t seem to deter the kids from chomping on them.
I ordered the catfish poboy, and yum. The catfish was perfectly fried, and the bread was perfectly toasted. I do think that I liked the catfish enough to just have that all on its own next time without the additional bread.

Hubby could not stop raving about his scallops. He’s a bit particular about scallops, and these he said were cooked just right, still tender and very sweet. Because of this one dish, Surf and Turf is on hubby’s short list of places to eat in Cedar Park.
The restaurant is very laid back. There is a bar area and an LCD panel tv to watch sports. The service is polite. It’s great for families.
