Mason Creek Park and Robin Bledsoe Park playground (Leander)

With the warm, spring like weather last week, my son and I headed out to explore a new park in Leander. Our intentions were to go to Mason Creek Park, and as we drove north on Bagdad Rd. we saw Robin Bledsoe Park as we were turning onto Eagles Way. We turned into an older neighborhood with narrow residential streets and found the park not too far down the street. There was no where to park except by the curb, and with a moving truck nearby, I didn’t want to chance my car getting scraped up. I snapped a picture instead of the playscape from afar and took my son instead to Robin Bledsoe Park.

Robin Bledsoe is one of our favorites in the summer time for its sprinkler park with the smaller water geysers and spouts for little kids. There is one playscape that has a toddler end and a bigger kids end, each flanked with age appropriate slides. My almost 2 year old son wanted nothing to do with the little slides. He wanted to go all the way up to the top, and even without my help, he managed his way up. The sides are all enclosed so that a toddler can’t fall down except at two points which makes it easy for a parent to spot one child without having to go up to the top. The playground also has a set of swings and a pavilion that is almost always the location for a birthday party or playgroup.

Because it was such a beautiful day, there was a big crowd here as we were leaving. Come to think of it, anytime that I have been to Robin Bledsoe with my older child, there has always been a crowd. It’s a popular spot for homeschool families too for “recess.” If you are the chatty type looking to network or socialize with other parents, Robin Bledsoe is a good spot to find some company.
