cinnamon chip, garlic parmesan, pumpkin spice bread (barely showing at the top)
Hello, cinnamon chip bread! Where have you been all my life?
A friend brought over a loaf of cinnamon chip bread to our house, and I think between our four kids, they ate through nearly 3/4 of that loaf. My kids have been asking about that cinnamon chip bread ever since, and that is in addition to the pumpkin spice loaf which I like to pick one up occasionally for the kids to eat as dessert when I’m too lazy to bake my own.
All the breads are dense, moist though I do find the whole wheat bread to be a bit crumblier than a similar loaf from Whole Foods and Central Market. (For one of the best whole wheat breads in town, grab one from Sweetish Hill. Yum.) My kids like the garlic parmesan bread here which I slice up thinly, and they like to put a bit of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil on top to bake as an individual pizza snack.
Great Harvest Breads are not crusty breads so those who prefer ciabattas and the crunch of baguettes, these breads might not fit the bill. For lack of a better way to describe the texture, it is closer to the breads that come out of bread machines though definitely better. The bread slices also tend to “stick” together a little bit. Each loaf is not cheap, mostly $5-$8 per loaf. It’s an occasional indulgence that I don’t mind getting.

display counter
When you come into the store, the store attendant has always been friendly and more than willing to give us a sample. There’s a gigantic hunk of real butter on the counter, and you’ll get a big helping to sample with butter.
There are two franchise locations where you can pick up freshly baked bread. The loaves are also sold at Costco (at least the Braker location). Don’t expect the niceties like bakeries with pastries in refrigerated cases At least at the north location, it’s no frills. You walk in, pick the types of breads at the counter, and the person serving you grabs you a fresh loaf from the racks behind the counter.
