Winner! Winner! Chicken Finger Dinner!

When a restaurant only has one main staple item on its menu, you know they’re confident that the one thing they make is awesome. Bob and Mike’s Chicken at Braker and MoPac in the Arbor Walk Shopping Center makes a mean chicken tender.
ZuZu Restaurant (MoPac)

ZuZu Handmade Mexican Food offers exactly what their names says… though may we suggest they also should add fresh, made-to-order, and delicious to their name too.
We recently visited ZuZu MoPac, located on the service road of MoPac and 2222, after a suggestion from a Little Austinite reader. I’ve wondered about this place for several years now after having seen their inviting covered patio each time I’ve passed this shopping center. However, I never went in because I thought it was a sit down fancy schmancy restaurant. (Don’t know why I thought that!) So I was pleasantly surprised when we opened the doors and found a brightly painted, friendly and inviting, order-at-the-counter cafe that offers an extensive menu of freshly made Mexican food.
Panera Bread (Lakeline location)

Though we typically patronize local establishments, I have to admit that I am sucker for Panera Bread. They have only recently come into the Austin area, and the kids and I went to check out the newest Lakeline location. The place was packed, and it was 2 pm on a (non-holiday) weekday! We did not [...]
Playing with food, product review of Japanese egg molds

Egg molds? I know. I mentioned this to a few friends, and most of them looked at me like I was talking about furry fungus on food left out too long in warm, moist spaces. Egg molds are inexpensive, hinged plastic devices that shape hard boiled eggs, rice, or any moldable foods really. They are [...]
Happy holidays.
Wishing you all happy holidays. We’ll see you back on the 28th with new posts.
Gift ideas for young children
If I could ban any more toys that require batteries from coming into my home, I would do it. I’m not saying that electronic toys are a bad thing, and it isn’t that I don’t want to buy batteries. Battery operated toys are bright, flashy, eye-catching, and make my kids happy, but their longevity is [...]
Explaining Santa, the elves, and reindeer to kids
Warning: Parents with children skilled enough at reading who still believe in Santa, scroll no further than the Elf if said children are reading over the shoulders. Especially for parents with younger children, there may be some internal debate about how much of the Santa tale to tell their children, when to let the kids [...]
Teacher Heaven

Of the supply stores carrying educational and learning items in the Austin area, I think that Teacher Heaven wins hands down as the one with the greatest variety for a larger span of ages. As an AP science teacher, places which sell as many motivational poster boards and bulletin board materials as Teacher Heaven would [...]
Towel animals

Every so often, I like to do something (nice) that is completely unexpected for my children. It makes them happy, which makes me happy. I occasionally will make towel animals for my kids using bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths like origami paper to twist animal shapes for my kids. The towel animals are [...]
Plank’s Pizzas, Tacos, Burgers, and More

First off, kid’s eat free on Tuesdays after 5 pm at Plank’s. Right away that should be an indicator that Plank’s in north Austin is family friendly. This is a restaurant that is “Austin born, Austin grown” in their own words, and I really believe that Plank’s was created with families in mind. The place [...]
