Austin Children’s Museum Gives Children Another Fun Way to Learn about Science
Austin, Texas (November 2, 2009) – Visitors to Austin Children’s Museum will soon have another fun way to learn about science. In collaboration with The University of Texas’s College of Natural Sciences, the Museum will host Natural Science Saturdays on November 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an event which guides children and their families through the world of natural science found in their everyday lives.
At Natural Science Saturdays children and families will experiment with energy, buoyancy and density. Children will test and build simple circuits and play with an energy transfer train. Visitors will also explore how the human body conducts electricity by using an energy ball. Families can learn why some things float and others sink and create a boat that gets objects safely across water.
Children and their families can enjoy Natural Science Saturdays together on Saturdays, November 7 and 14 at Austin Children’s Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participation in this event is included with Museum admission.
Students from UT’s Cockrell School of Engineering will also be at Austin Children’s Museum on November 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, for the Museum’s Engineering Saturday program. Children may explore this station as well, where they can use their imaginations and build stable structures using marshmallows.
